KCCI 8 News - Des Moines App Reviews

Do NOT bother with this app unless you are ok with a majority of videos. If I want to watch a video, Ill turn on the TV or bring up the live broadcast online. When I want a news story off a mobile device, I want to read it. Quickly. Easily. This is not the app for that.

The new app is challenging to navigate. On the weather, you cannot find the maps, or the 8 day forecast. On the news, it only gives you a snippet of the story, and it highlights older stories. And as much as I hated all the negative comments, and how it would get off the subject at hand, it still allowed people to voice their opinion and good or bad, that is gone.

I love this app! I love the up to the minute news, especially concerning traffic and weather. I also enjoy that it encompasses a broad spectrum of topics from traffic to entertainment.

Bad design and difficult to follow/use. The most ads for a news group, HORRIBLE. Takes over my speakers and shuts down my music too, if I wanted to listen to a story I understand. This is the only app I have that does that. Which is why I rarely use it first, Ill go to other Media apps 1st. Rating STILL has not changed. Too slanted information and not just the facts. Turns OFF my music that Im listening to, no other app does this, why?. I avoid this app for news due to this issue while listening to music. Too many Ads, and worthless news.

Every time KCCI updates their app, there is another reason I dont like it. I do not like the format. I hate have to scroll through stuff to get to the national headlines. I hate that sometimes if I go into a story and come out of it, it has taken me all the way back to the top of the page.

The app works very well for me. I love the variety of information. I can always count on the KCCI team to keep me informed!

I reviewed this app a few years ago. Since then there have been many updates. This app Uses a lot of space. Last I checked like 400 MB I do not like how there are stories buried under other stories. The weather forecast Is not as user friendly as before

This version is no good. It is difficult to navigate and many times offers only part of the story. I look to other news sources first now because yours is no longer user friendly enough

I find this app very confusing and the repetitive nature of the stories frustrating. I cant seem to find any rhyme, reason, or structure to the app. Also, Id like to read the stories instead of being forced to watch videos. The stories are often just a summary of one or two sentences. Overall, I am just not a fan.

The app is Horrible now. Every story is cut in half to squeeze in ads. The entire app was redesigned to service ads as opposed to news. Most stores are in the form of a video where again they force you watch an ad first. Who ever was in charge of the redesign should be fired, Out of a cannon, Into the sun.

The KCCI app used to be good, easy to use and quick to navigate. This version of the app is "meh" at best.

This app is complete crap. KCCI should get their money back and get a new app!

Way too busy and clustered with unnecessary stuff. Poor UI. Obtrusive weather box delaying any sort of quick scan of news. And every news story has an irritating square ad that splits the story in two. And what happen to the weather radar refresh button on the radar screen? Ugh.

I read KCCI News everyday on my phone. The last version was easy and fast to navigate anywhere within the app. Now its nearly impossible to find what you want. Whomever designed this failed miserably and they need fired for incompetence. I guess Im switching to WHO-13 News app. Im sure they will appreciate your giant screw up. If you dont fix this you will be losing many of your subscribers for good. From the looks of all of these unhappy people it seems as though you dont care. I go online to read news. Not watch a video that always had a stupid 30 second ad before each one. Any company I see advertised before one of your videos I will never buy anything from them. Period. Ive always used your app and watch your local news at 10pm on tv but since you cant seem to get this app right I now watch Fox/Who13 news at 9pm and use WHOs news app. I really hope you decide to fix it before you lose many people for good.

Not liking the new app The older version was a lot easier to use. Little disappointed in the kcci new app

There are so many other better ways to get news. The new version of app was not designed well. I only use the weather app for storms.

Was a fine app until recently, but now I have to wait a few seconds for a full screen ad to go away before I can see the weather. Why would I use this now when other apps allow immediate access? Extremely disappointing.

I can put up with notification sounds in the middle of the night for a house fire 3 counties away. I can put up with format changes that still drive me mad. I can put up with "leading stories" showing pictures of a different mansion every week. I cannot put up with game ads featuring Arnolds mug every time I open the app. Deleting it.
